Almost every guide to the Bihar Board admit card tells students to go to the portal and download it. That is not how it works, and believing it wastes days at exactly the wrong time of year.
So if your admit card has not reached you, refreshing the BSEB website will never produce it. The card is with your school. That single fact changes who you need to speak to — and in the days before an exam, it is the difference between solving the problem and panicking at a website.
How the process actually runs
- Registration. Your school registers you with the board; your details enter BSEB's records.
- Dummy registration card / dummy admit card. The board publishes a draft version specifically so errors can be caught and corrected.
- Correction window. Errors are corrected by the school, not by the student, and only within the stated period.
- Final admit card. Downloaded by the school head, printed, stamped, signed.
- Distribution to students.
The dummy admit card is the whole point
The dummy card exists for one reason: to give you a chance to find mistakes while they are still fixable. Once the final admit card is issued, correcting an error is far harder and sometimes cannot be done before the exam.
When the dummy card reaches you, check every field against your own documents — not against memory:

What to do if you find an error
- Go to your school immediately, with the dummy card and your supporting documents. Do not wait to see whether it corrects itself.
- Ask the head of institution to make the correction on the portal. Only the school can do this — you cannot, and no cyber café can.
- Get confirmation that the correction was submitted, and check the corrected version when it is available.
The correction window is short and it is the school that has to act within it. If your school office is slow, escalating early is reasonable — a week's delay here can mean the error survives onto the final admit card.
What the admit card carries
Beyond your personal details, the card carries the information you need on exam day: roll number, roll code, examination centre name and address, exam timings, and the subjects and their dates.
Check the centre address as soon as you receive the card. In this division the allotted centre can be a considerable distance from home, and candidates from rural blocks of Supaul, Madhepura and Saharsa routinely underestimate travel time on the first morning. Work out the journey once, in advance, rather than at 6am on exam day.
On exam day
- Carry the original admit card, stamped and signed by the school head. A photocopy or a phone photograph is not a substitute.
- Carry a photo ID as well.
- If there is a discrepancy that was never corrected, report it to the centre superintendent before the exam begins rather than after.
- Keep the admit card safely after the exam. It is often required later for result-related applications such as scrutiny.
What we are not publishing
We are not giving admit card dates for the upcoming cycle. BSEB's own portal has been serving outdated notices, and the secondary sources we checked disagree with one another about which examination year the current registration and card timeline belongs to.
Publishing a confident date under those conditions would be guessing, and a wrong admit card date is the kind of error that causes real harm. When the board's schedule is clear, this page will carry it. Until then, ask your school — they hold the login and they receive the board's circulars directly.
Frequently asked questions
Can students download the Bihar Board admit card themselves?
No. Admit cards are downloaded by school heads using the school's User ID and password, then printed, stamped, signed and distributed to students. If your card has not arrived, it is with your school, not on the website.
What is the dummy admit card for?
It is a draft version published so that errors can be found and corrected before the final admit card is issued. Corrections are made by the school on the portal, within a stated window — not by the student.
What should I check most carefully on the dummy card?
Your subjects. A misspelled name is fixable later, but a wrong subject means sitting or missing the wrong paper, and that cannot be resolved at the centre on exam day. Also check name spelling against your Aadhaar, since mismatches later break scholarship and DBT payments.
What do I do if there is an error on my admit card?
Take the card and your supporting documents to your school at once and ask the head of institution to submit the correction on the portal. Students and cyber cafes cannot make this correction.
What should I carry to the examination centre?

The admit card is a school-mediated document from beginning to end. The board issues it to your school, your school corrects it, and your school hands it to you.
